Talk about a midseason collapse.

New York Jets’ quarterback Mark Sanchez has lost one of his biggest off-field assets… his girlfriend Eva Longoria.

The Mexican-American actresses’ reps confirmed that the two have officially called it quits after several months of dating, TMZ reports.

Last month, Jets’ fans began to worry the power couples relationship might have a negative effect on the teams performance, especially in the tough AFC North.

“I’m afraid she might be a voodoo woman for him,” said Craig Carton, co-host of the morning sports talk show “Boomer & Carton,” according to the New York Post. “No disrespect to her, but I prefer he date a woman who is all-in and low maintenance. If she’s going to be calling her publicist every time she goes out to dinner with him, then I think it’s a problem.”

This collapse of the relationship may have been part of the reason for the team’s Sunday loss to the New England Patriots.

Sanchez has been linked to a bevy of beauties in recent months, including models Kate Upton and Hilary Rhoda. His relationship with Longoria was the first time he stepped out in public with someone since he ended his relationship with “Sopranos” actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler two years ago.

Celebrity girlfriends have notoriously been blamed or praised for their beaus’ performances on the field.

Time will now tell whether the break helps refocus the Jets’ starting QB or whether it will drive him…and his team…into despair, setting Tim Tebow up for a starting gig at the Meadowlands.
