When you're dating a Duggar, there are certain rules you must follow and that includes no full-frontal hugging before you're married.

So when Jessa Duggar's proposal was aired on the family's TLC reality show "19 Kids & Counting," viewers were shocked when the 21-year-old gave her fiance Ben Seewald a hug -- and not of the side variety the Duggars made famous.

After a long scavenger hunt lead to Seewald's romantic proposal, the young couple were so overwhelmed they broke one of their own courting rules but that wasn't the first time.

The now-married couple held hands in prayer the night before Seewald proposed.

When Jessa's father Jim Bob called for everyone to join hands in prayer, wife Michelle was surprised when her daughter and future son-in-law obliged.

"Not them?" she asked her husband who agreed it was okay as they were being chaperoned and it was for the purpose of praying.

But hugging and some hand holding were all that Jessa and Ben shared before their wedding. The couple didn't even kiss at the alter, opting to save the intimate moment when TLC's cameras weren't rolling.
