Woman dies on her way to mother's funeral in a single-vehicle crash in Utah

A woman who was on her way to her mother’s funeral in Salt Lake City was killed in a rollover crash on a Utah highway over the weekend. Two others were injured.

The deceased has been identified as Danielle Valle of Mesquite, Nevada.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 7 a.m. Saturday on I-15, in Beaver County.

Police initially stated Valle, 48, had been traveling with her mother’s ashes on her lap and troopers searched the crash scene to recover them. However, later in the day they said plans had changed at the last minute and the ashes were not with her at the time of the crash.

The single-vehicle accident happened during a winter storm that made conditions wet and icy, when a 48-year-old man driving a GMC pickup truck lost control and crashed into the median before rolling several times.
