British police have been accused of secretly investigating up to 47,000 people who bought plane tickets to fly into and out of the country, according to the Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail reports police investigated the travel habits, family and friends of people after they bought the tickets.
The passengers were singled out by a "terrorist detector" database which monitors millions of British tourists and other travelers.
The system has not led to an arrest of a terrorist, according to the paper.
Civil liberty groups are furious over the investigations into the passengers and the system may be stopped by Britain's new coalition government.
