ANKARA, Turkey – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reappointed Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to form a new government after his party's victory in elections Nov.1.
The Justice and Development Party, founded by Erdogan, regained the parliamentary majority it had had for 13 years until the previous election in June. The Nov. 1 election was a re-run called by Erdogan after efforts for a coalition government failed.
Erdogan formally asked Davutoglu to form a council of ministers during a meeting on Tuesday.
Davutoglu is expected to present a Cabinet list for Erdogan's approval either on Thursday or Friday.
Earlier Tuesday, newly elected lawmakers were sworn into office during a ceremony at parliament's first session since the election.
