Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is to address Parliament a day after elbowing a female lawmaker in the chest and forcibly grabbing another lawmaker.

Trudeau apologized twice on Wednesday evening for what he called the accidental encounter and a spokesman said he will address the matter again Thursday.

Opposition lawmaker Ruth Ellen Brosseau said she had to leave the House of Commons chamber after being elbowed. TV footage shows Trudeau wading into a clutch of lawmakers and pulling one through the crowd in order to get a vote on euthanasia legislation started. As Trudeau turned around to pull the lawmaker, Brosseau can be seen grimacing in pain.

The kerfuffle comes as a blow to Trudeau's image as a modern leader who has talked about bringing "sunny ways" to politics.
