TORONTO- Police say they are searching for the rightful owners of a $12.1 million lottery ticket after charging a family in Ontario with stealing the jackpot.

Ontario provincial police Inspector Bill Price said Wednesday a father, his son and daughter allegedly stole a Super 7 ticket from the retail store they worked in Burlington, Ontario, after a customer cashed-in a winning ticket in 2003.

Police say the family had allegedly been actively stealing lottery tickets from customers and allege the father gave the ticket to the daughter to claim the prize.

The scandal-plagued Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. has been under scrutiny for several years related to insider wins.

The family is scheduled to appear in an Ontario court later Wednesday.
