BENGHAZI, Libya – Libya's official news agency says the country has resumed oil exports from a terminal seized by troops loyal to the internationally-recognized parliament, which is at odds with the U.N.-backed government.
LANA reported Wednesday that oil tankers loaded with crude have departed from the Ras Lanuf terminal.
Forces commanded by Gen. Khalifa Hifter, who leads the pro-parliament forces in eastern Libya, earlier this month seized Ras Lanuf and two other terminals from a militia that had held them for two years.
The parliament has rejected the U.N.-brokered government, based in Tripoli, in part over differences regarding Hifter's future role.
Libya's oil production plunged following the 2011 uprising that toppled and killed Moammar Gadhafi, from 1.6 million barrels per day under the longtime dictator to just 200,000.
