A jury in a Canadian murder trial is hearing that a young man in China was chatting via webcam with his girlfriend in Toronto when he saw a man force his way into her room.

Moments later, the court heard, the man approached the computer to turn it off and he was naked from the waist down.

Qian Liu was found dead the next day, April 15, 2011, in her basement apartment.

Attorney Christine Pirraglia laid out the prosecution's case against Brian Dickson on Monday on the opening day of his first-degree murder trial. He has pleaded not guilty.

Dickson's lawyer, Robert Nuttall, told the jury that this case isn't about who did it, but about what happened, and he'll be asking the jury to instead convict Dickson of manslaughter.
