Hungary says willing to take back some migrants from Austria

BUDAPEST, Hungary – Hungary's prime minister says his country is willing to take back some migrants from Austria under European rules and would then take them back to their countries of origin, mostly Kosovo and Albania.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban said Tuesday that Hungary has agreements and procedures in place with the countries of origin as well as the countries through which the migrants would be returned home by bus.

Orban spoke after hosting a meeting with Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern. He said that Hungary would only take back migrants who first entered the European Union by registering in Hungary, in accordance with the so-called Dublin asylum rules.

Other migrants, like those from the Middle East who entered the EU through Greece, would be rejected.
