A Hungarian court says a British citizen who spent years in prison for funding acts of terror should be deported to Britain.

Thursday's court ruling was based on a European arrest warrant issued after Simon Keeler and another man, identified in court documents as Trevor Brooks, left Britain without authorization. They were detained Sunday by police in eastern Hungary on a train headed to the Romanian capital of Bucharest.

Keeler said he lived in London, that security measures imposed by police against him were "very much over the top" and that he hoped to join his wife and children in Turkey. Keeler said "I don't want to go back to Britain."

Brooks, who was also convicted in Britain of similar charges, was scheduled to appear in court later Thursday.
