RIO DE JANEIRO – Brazil's TAM Airlines says a bomb threat forced it to delay its Rio-to-Frankfurt flight for nearly nine hours.
Brazil's largest airline says in a statement that shortly before takeoff late Monday night one of the 164 passengers on flight 8102 announced that he had a bomb with him.
The statement says federal police agents arrested the man and the plane's passengers were disembarked.
Inspections of the aircraft and luggage found no explosive device, and the plane was authorized to resume its flight to Germany early Tuesday.
The airline did not immediately provide further details.
