Brazil has its 3rd justice minister in 2 weeks

RIO DE JANEIRO – Embattled Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has appointed a new justice minister, the third in only two weeks.

Eugenio Aragao takes over the job following the resignation of Wellington Cesar. He stepped down Monday after a Supreme Court ruling made him choose between the Cabinet position and his 25-year career as prosecutor in the state of Bahia.

Cesar served as Rousseff's justice minister for just 11 days. He got the job when long-time Rousseff ally Jose Eduardo Cardozo quit two weeks ago to become solicitor-general.

Cardozo had held the position for more than five years in the middle of heavy pressure from politicians affected by the widespread corruption investigation at state-run oil giant Petrobras.

Brazil's justice minister is also the head of the country's federal police.
