The Committee to Protect Journalists has condemned the latest killing of a Mexican journalist.

According to the Tabasco state prosecutor's office, journalist C. Moises Dagdug Lutzow's white pickup was found abandoned beside a highway with a bloody knife inside Saturday.

Dagdug, a former federal lawmaker for the Democratic Revolution Party who owned the media company Grupo VX, was found dead inside his home in Villahermosa. CPJ said Monday he hosted a weekly news analysis program and had denounced threats.

Grupo VX news director Angel Antonio Jimenez told CPJ that he heard Dagdug's truck being driven through the gates of his home early Saturday morning.

Carlos Lauria, CPJ's senior program coordinator for the Americas, called on the federal government to investigate the slaying and motives including retaliation for his work.
