BERLIN (AP) — German federal police say they have taken two Russian men into custody at Berlin's Tegel airport after a witness reported hearing them having a suspicious conversation.

Federal police spokeswoman Sandra Pfeifer says both men were pilots but were not part of the crew of an Air Berlin jet that they were booked on to fly to Moscow on Wednesday.

She says the two had gone through security checks and were not armed but were taken into custody after a witness reported overhearing a conversation between them.

She could give no further details.

But she says the plane was evacuated at around noontime and is being searched by authorities.
