A woman says she was asked to cover herself while breastfeeding in a Gastonia restaurant.

Karissa Riddle told The Gaston Gazette she was in Qdoba Mexican Grill at Gaston Mall on Tuesday when an employee to cover herself because the restaurant had received complaints.

Riddle said she told the employee state law allows her to breastfeed her child. She said the employee told her company policy allowed staff to ask that customers to cover themselves.

Qdoba owner Mike Bradley says the restaurant does not discourage customers from breastfeeding.

Riddle is hoping for an apology. A corporate spokeswoman said Qdoba is reviewing the report.
Gastonia Police Capt. Mike Lari confirmed that state law exempts breastfeeding mothers from indecent exposure laws. He says the department rarely gets complaints about breastfeeding mothers.
