Who's defending Bill Cosby? A look at his criminal team

PHILADELPHIA – Bill Cosby is deploying a two-prong legal strategy to fight sexual-assault charges in suburban Philadelphia.

Local criminal lawyer Brian McMonagle will press for the case to be thrown out when the 78-year-old Cosby returns to court Feb. 2.

But lawyer-turned-legal analyst Monique Pressley is expected to defend Cosby on TV.

Experts say lawyers in high-profile cases need to persuade both the court and the court of public opinion.

McMonagle's career highlights include representing the late Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua of Philadelphia during the Catholic priest-abuse scandal.

Pressley has worked as both a prosecutor and public defender in Washington, D.C.

The charges involve a sexual encounter between Cosby and a Temple University employee. He calls it consensual. She says she was drugged and violated.
