Where’s the beef?

Massachusetts police are investigating the theft Saturday night of 49 cows from a Dartmouth farm.

The beef thieves hit the farm on Old Fall River Road between 10 p.m. and midnight, taking cattle worth about $50,000, said Police Chief Timothy Lee, South Coast Today reports.

According to the paper, the farm, accessible via a winding dirt road, looks more junkyard than pasture, with the remnants of plywood shacks and rusted chain-link fences sprawling out in a maze of corrugated metal corridors.

Lee refused to give out more details of the crime, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation, but said police have “a few ideas” about what happened, according to South Coast Today.
