Virginia woman, 90, resists alleged bag thief who is later arrested

ROANOKE, Va. – A 90-year-old Roanoke woman who wouldn't let go of her purse has led to the arrest of the man who attempted to snatch it.

Police say 43-year-old Barry Lynn Arthur was charged with robbery after he attempted to grab the woman's purse in a grocery. The woman told police she held on tight and he dragged her as she screamed for help.

The Roanoke Times reports that two people came to the woman's aid Thursday until police arrived and arrested the suspect.
