Newly released video shows the surprise interrogation of a Los Angeles police detective who would later be charged in the 1986 killing of her ex-boyfriend's wife.

Video clips obtained by the Los Angeles Times and posted on its website Tuesday show Detective Stephanie Lazarus just before her arrest last year in the slaying.

Transcripts show Lazarus was told she would be helping fellow detectives interrogate an art theft suspect. But as detectives start interviewing her about the murder, she calls their questions "insane" and asks if she's on "Candid Camera."

Lazarus says in the video that she confronted victim Sherri Rasmussen several times but had no role in her killing.

Lazarus has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
