Video shows sheriff's deputies in Ohio shooting a man who led them on a three-county chase but doesn't make clear whether he ignored warnings to show his hands or whether he indicated he had a gun.

The chase ended in northwest Ohio's Hancock County, where authorities say Scott Sprague of Lima lost control and crashed into a tree.

The video from a camera in a Putnam County sheriff cruiser was released Tuesday and is dated Aug. 24. It shows deputies going up to the driver's window after the crash and then quickly backing away. Moments later, the driver jumps out of the window and is shot.

Police say Sprague indicated he had a gun, but his attorney says he told deputies "I don't have a gun."

Sprague is recovering from his injuries.
