WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – A Vermont woman and her friend have been charged with making a fake bomb threat to the western Massachusetts supermarket where she was employed so she could get out of work early.
Police say 21-year-old Emily Sziribik, who worked at the Wild Oats Market in Williamstown, and 21-year-old Jacob Shea, both of Bennington, Vermont, concocted the threat so they could "hang out" together.
Police received a 911 call from a store manager on June 4, prompting a response from the state police bomb squad.
It was quickly determined to be a hoax.
Police were led to the suspects though phone records.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that Sziribik and Shea were released on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty Tuesday to charges of making a bomb threat.
