Vandals damage Georgia park honoring veterans

Police are seeking information after a Georgia park honoring veterans was vandalized with black spray paint.

Veterans Park in Lula features bricks engraved with the names of 300 veterans, reported. This is the first time in the park’s four-year history that it has been vandalized.

As officials work to remove the black paint from the outer walls, the town’s historical society is offering $500 for information leading to the arrest of the suspects, the website reported.

“I think we owe it to every veteran’s name on the wall, they are the ones that are being disgraced by this,” Lula City Councilman and Air Force veteran Norm Harrop told

“Most of the money that built the park was donated and we never had anything like this before,” Harrop said.

Harrop called it a desecration and many veterans in the area have expressed outrage.

A company from Athens has volunteered to clean the vandalism free of charge after chemicals failed to get the paint off, reported.
