Two South Carolina Air National Guard F-16 fighter jets crashed Tuesday night in Georgia, officials said in a statement.

The South Carolina Air National Guard said in a statement that the pilots of the single-seat aircraft ejected safely after a mid-air collision during routine night-flying operations in Jefferson County, Ga. Officials said there were no injuries reported on the ground.

The two jets were assigned to the 169th Fighter Wing. The pilots weren’t immediately identified.

Officials said an initial safety board has been activated and the U.S. Air Force plans to conduct a safety investigation.

The latest incident comes on the heels of two crashes by military jets last week.

A pilot of a U.S. Air Force Thunderbird crashed following a flyover for graduating cadets at the Air Force Academy. The pilot safely ejected and was uninjured.

Capt. Jeff Kuss, 32, was killed when his F/A-18 jet crashed just after takeoff while he was practicing for an air show outside Nashville. The Blue Angels have canceled upcoming performances.
