Train Hits Car After Police Say Driver Followed Mistaken GPS Directions

A 63-year-old Oklahoma woman narrowly escaped injury when her car became stuck on train tracks after following incorrect GPS directions, police say.

A Coaster train on Wednesday evening hit the rented 2009 Hyundai Accent, which the woman was using to visit her son in San Diego.

According to authorities, the weather conditions were dark and wet as the woman agreed to instructions to turn left onto a railway, FOX 5 San Diego reports. The car became stuck in gravel and the woman escaped after hearing the sound of the oncoming train.

The rental car was badly damaged, but the train sustained minor damage.
