Investigators say a man has been killed during a shooting involving two officers at a North Carolina traffic stop.

Rockingham County deputies said in a news release the shooting happened around 2 a.m. Sunday near Stoneville, about 40 miles north of Greensboro.

Authorities released few details about the shooting, including why the traffic stop happened, whether anyone else was in the car and what the man did before he was shot. Neither the names nor the races of the parties involved have been released.

The State Bureau of Investigation has been asked to investigate the shooting. The agency is also investigating a man shot to death about 180 miles away by police in a parking lot in Clinton after officers say he pointed a shotgun at them.
