Tornado warning for Tennessee, Missouri border

A tornado warning has been issued Thursday for northwest Tennessee and southeast Missouri as a damaging storm system makes its way across southern states. The warning will be in effect until 12:45 p.m. local time, the National Weather Service said.

There was a report of a tornado spotted near Hayti Heights, Mo., moving northeast at 5 mph.

Earlier, tornado warnings that were issued for central Mississippi but has since been lifted. Thunderstorms producing severe rain may lead to flash floods in low-lying areas. By late Thursday night, much of the heaviest activity should be out of the area, Fox40tv.com reported.
