The Latest: Sister ecstatic over return of missing woman

SAN FRANCISCO – The Latest on a Northern California woman who was found after being missing for three weeks (all times local):

The older sister of a Northern California mother who was missing for three weeks says the return of her sibling made for the best Thanksgiving ever.

Sheila Koester said Friday she is "very thankful and ecstatic" about the return of her sister Sherri Papini.

Authorities have released few details about what happened to Papini.

Koester says she does not know what happened to her sister during the three weeks she was gone or the details of the police investigation.

She said she reunited with Papini and is giving her space and time with her husband to heal.

Police say the 34-year-old Papini was found early Thursday bound by restraints near Interstate 5 in Yolo County after she flagged down a driver.

Authorities are looking for two armed women they believe abducted Papini while she was jogging on Nov. 2 near Redding.

Papini was treated for unspecified injuries and released.

A woman who was kidnapped after leaving her Northern California home to jog and held captive for three weeks was "very emotional" after a passing driver found her on the side of a rural road, a local sheriff said Friday.

Authorities were looking for two armed women they believe abducted Sherri Papini, 34, on Nov. 2, Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko said in an interview on "Good Morning America." He called it very rare for her to be released about 150 miles south of where she disappeared near Redding.

Papini was found Thanksgiving morning bound by restraints near Interstate 5 but was able to flag down a driver, Bosenko said. The motorist called authorities, who connected the mother of two to her husband by cellphone.

Officials said they were not aware of a motive for the kidnapping.
