The Latest on a shooting of four people in downtown Oakland (all times local):

12:15 p.m.

Police are searching for suspects who opened fire in downtown Oakland, California, killing a 17-year-old girl and wounding three other people.

Gunfire erupted Tuesday near a vigil for two drowning victims, sending mourners and pedestrians running for cover.

Detectives on Wednesday asked for the public's help in tracking down suspects. It's not known if the shooting is connected to the vigil.

Three other people ranging from their mid-teens to early 20s were treated at a hospital and released. Seventeen-year-old Regginna Jefferies died at a hospital.

From her ninth-floor office, Diana Haven said she heard the gunshots and then witnessed a chaotic scene.

She says the shooting makes her sad because downtown had been much safer in recent years.
