ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Latest in the manslaughter trial of a Minnesota police officer who fatally shot a black motorist during a traffic stop (all times local):

The jury considering the fate of a Minnesota police officer charged in the death of a black motorist has wrapped up its third day of deliberations without a verdict.
Officer Jeronimo (yeh-RON'-ih-moh) Yanez is charged with manslaughter in the July 6 death of Philando Castile. Yanez shot the 32-year-old cafeteria worker in a St. Paul suburb just seconds after Castile had informed him he was carrying a gun.
The jury appears to be having trouble reaching a verdict. Judge William Leary summoned the jurors to court Wednesday afternoon and re-read a portion of the jury instructions. He then sent them back to keep working.
The instructions dealt with their duty to work toward an agreement. Leary did not offer any explanation for why he read the passage.
Deliberations resume Thursday.

The jury has been deliberating for 2 ½ days in the manslaughter trial of Officer Jeronimo (yeh-RON'-ih-moh) Yanez. Yanez is accused in the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Philando Castile last July in a traffic stop.
Yanez and attorneys were summoned back to a St. Paul courtroom Wednesday afternoon. In a hearing that lasted only a couple of minutes, Judge William Leary re-read the jury instructions and told jurors to continue their work.
No explanation was given in open court.

Officer Jeronimo (yeh-RON'-ih-moh) Yanez shot driver Philando Castile five times just seconds after Castile told him he was carrying a handgun. Yanez had pulled Castile's car over in a St. Paul suburb last July 6.
Yanez testified last week that Castile was pulling out his gun despite his commands and he feared for his life. Prosecutors question whether Yanez ever actually saw a gun and say he overreacted.
