HOUSTON – A Texas man was in jail Monday, charged with fracturing the skull of his fiancee's baby, who later died.
Joshua Beall, 28, told police that 16-month-old Casen Wells had fallen off a couch and hit his head on a coffee table on Jan. 10, KTRK-TV reported. His mother Tiffany Wells was at work at the time of the incident.
The baby was taken by helicopter from his mother's Houston apartment to a nearby hospital, where he died over the weekend from his injuries.
According to court documents, Casen was likely hit at least twice in the head with a blunt object and suffered a fractured skull as well as other injuries.
A doctor said he "did not sustain these head injuries from a fall."
Beall is facing a charge of injury to a child. The charge could be upgraded now that Casen has died, according to KTRK.
Beall is being held in jail on $150,000 bond.
