Two people died after they were shot in their Dallas apartment while two young children were inside, police said Wednesday.

The children, reportedly both under 10 years old, were unhurt during the incident early Wednesday morning, MyFoxdfw.com reported.

Dallas police said no arrests have been made and they are continuing their search for the shooter.

Officers arrived at the second-floor apartment shortly after midnight following a report of a disturbance. They found a woman injured from a gunshot wound just inside the home and a man who had been shot in a back bedroom.

Paramedics rushed the woman to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where she died later. The man died at the scene.

The woman was identified as 32-year-old Venora Cranford, local station KTVT reported. The man has yet to be identified.

Detectives said the woman was shot after answering the door, perhaps to greet someone she knew.
