IRWIN, Pa. – A Pennsylvania man has agreed to a tentative plea bargain on charges that he threw a television remote control at his 8-year-old son's head because the boy was talking too much.
Forty-seven-year-old Scott Lackey, of Irwin, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
He has tentatively agreed to plead guilty to endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault and harassment for the alleged incident Aug. 15. If a judge approves the deal, Lackey will spend six to 23 months in jail, then three years on probation.
Lackey didn't comment after his hearing.
Police say Lackey blamed the incident on his son, claiming the boy "wakes up in the morning and starts talking and doesn't stop all day." The boy suffered a lump on his head.
