Authorities say a military veteran has been charged with 11 counts of attempted murder in Tennessee after he threw explosives at officers and stabbed one of them.

Memphis Police Director Michael Rallings said officers were called to a home Tuesday by someone who said her son had a weapon and was speaking erratically.

Police said Wednesday that 33-year-old Christopher Roby threw explosives at officers before grabbing a knife. Court documents say police found four explosives in the yard, including possible pipe bombs and a mouse trap "rigged with a shotgun shell."

Police said Roby stabbed an officer as he was trying to arrest Roby. The officer was in stable condition.

Court records don't show if Roby has a lawyer. Police said Roby served in Afghanistan and Iraq as a Marine.
