The suspect who was wanted in a triple shooting in Colorado Springs and was cornered by police Saturday afternoon is believed to have fatally shot himself in the head, authorities said.

News station KKTV reports that 24-year-old shooting suspect Michael Arangio was cornered Saturday in an apartment in a complex called The Resort at University Park.

Arangio is suspected in a shooting that left three teens dead Wednesday night. Police received a tip from his parents earlier that he was in the complex.

The (Colorado Springs) Gazette reports that police have tossed tear gas into the apartment and were trying to send a robot into the unit Saturday afternoon. Several residents near the apartment have been evacuated.

Police found Arangio's 2002 Nissan Xterra on Friday.
