COMPTON, Calif. – A Southern California woman has been convicted of first-degree murder for stabbing to death her three young daughters last year.
Carol Coronado had pleaded not guilty to killing her daughters, ages 2, 16 months and 2 months, at the family home near the Los Angeles suburb of Carson.
The 32-year-old was convicted Monday.
She was acquitted of an attempted murder charge involving her mother, who found the children's bodies on a bloody bed.
Prosecutors decided earlier not to seek the death penalty against Coronado, who could face life in prison if she is found to have been sane at the time of the killings.
She is due back in court Tuesday for the start of her trial's sanity phase.
