Firefighters battle 9-alarm fire in Cambridge, Massachusetts
800 people reportedly without power due to fire in multiple buildings
Investigators have determined that the cause of a massive, 10-alarm fire in early December was the careless disposal of smoking material.
The blaze, which struck on Dec. 3, damaged 18 buildings and displaced more than 100 residents. It burned for almost the entire day.
Authorities said the fire started in recycling bins containing construction debris.
“It was like nothing I had ever seen or imagined,” Nadia Mohammad, a woman who was forced to grab her toddler and evacuate from the fire, said.
