Authorities in the Florida Gulf Coast community of Clearwater say a small plane has crashed into a residence, filling the neighborhood with smoke, MyFoxTampaBay.com reported.

A Clearwater city spokeswoman said the plane crashed into the roof of a house and landed in the backyard, according to the station.

Three people were on board, but none suffered life threatening injuries.

The official said several people were inside the home at the time, but none were injured.

Neighbors described a flood of fire trucks, ambulances and police rushing to the scene.

Neighbor Gordon White said he heard a plane flying overhead and then a large boom. He said the neighborhood filled with smoke after the crash.
