Authorities say a small plane made an emergency landing in a Houston-area neighborhood after the pilot reported engine trouble and deployed an emergency chute.

Authorities say the pilot and a passenger had minor injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the pilot of the Cirrus SR-22 reported engine failure shortly after leaving George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on Tuesday morning. The plane landed in a grassy area along a sidewalk in a cul-de-sac, near several houses.

Officials are trying to determine what caused the engine trouble.
