At least one person has been killed after a small plane crashed in Long Island on Tuesday, officials say.
The Cessna 400 went down in East Patchogue and emergency personnel are on scene, according to MyFoxNY.com.
Town of Brookhaven spokesman Kevin Molloy said the plane crashed next to a house in the community.
Officials told The Associated Press that a fire damaged the house following the 9 a.m. crash but has been put out.
Town Supervisor Edward P. Romaine told Newsday that people in the house appear to be physically unharmed.
Suffolk County officials said a two-block radius has been evacuated as a precaution.
It wasn't immediately known where the plane originated. Molloy said the airport in nearby Shirley had no takeoffs or anticipated landings during that time. It is also not clear what caused the crash.
On Friday, a small plane narrowly missed a house when it crashed in Westchester County and killed a member of the Rockefeller family.
