The man suspected of killing 12 and wounding dozens in a Colorado movie theater during a showing of the new Batman movie should fear for his own life if he’s released from solitary confinement, according to one inmate.

A recently released inmate from the same jail where James Holmes is being held told Fox 31 that he “would be killed” if he was housed with other prisoners.

Holmes, who has reportedly been spitting on guards and other inmates, was taken into solitary confinement shortly after he was arrested on the morning of July 20.

Individuals accused or convicted of crimes against children are typically met with brutality behind bars, the inmate said. Many of the victims at the shooting during the “The Dark Knight Rises” movie premiere were children.

Holmes made his first court appearance Monday morning.
