The Clark County coroner's office said Sunday that a woman and her 10-year-old son were stabbed to death in their Henderson apartment, and her teenage son remains missing.

Officers found their bodies on Friday after being asked to visit the apartment when the woman did not show up for work and her two sons did not show up for school.

Police said her son Adrian Navarro, 16, is still missing and he's not considered a suspect. His father lives in California.

Investigators said they're following up on leads but no suspect or motive has been identified so far.

Though authorities have not identified the victims, relatives told the Las Vegas Sun and KSNV-TV that they are Elvira Canales and her son Cesar Navarro. Canales, 40, was a chef at The Venetian.

Ana Karen Martinez, Canale's niece, said she and other family members are searching for answers.

"They killed them and they ripped a piece of me," she told KSNV. "She was more like my best friend than my aunt. Now I have no one to run and talk to about my problems at home or anything, and now she has got taken away from me."

She said she hopes authorities can soon find Adrian Navarro.

"It's killing me. I just want him back," Martinez told the Sun. "What if somebody did this to them and took him?"

The deaths came as a shock to a community that is not used to violent crime.

"I'm pretty spooked out," Rochelle Richards, who lives in the same apartment complex, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "Not that I think I'm in danger, but a double homicide just happened right next to us."

Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul says there were no new details to report Sunday evening.
