SC pastor charged with raping 2 women near church

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. – A South Carolina pastor has been charged with raping two women in a trailer behind his church.

A magistrate denied bond Thursday for Dale Richardson of Summerville, which is about 25 miles northwest of Charleston. He also was charged with a third sexual assault that occurred in January 2010. An arrest warrant claims Richardson picked up a woman hitchhiking and took her to a wooded area.

He is also charged with a separate kidnapping.

Authorities say Richardson is accused of giving two of the victims a ride, drawing a gun and taking them to a trailer behind the Free Will Baptist Church.

Richardson said he understood the charges against him, but he said little else during the hearing.
