A suitcase filled with body parts was found in San Francisco Wednesday afternoon, police say.

Officers responded to a call of a suspicious package in the South Market area of the city, KTVU reports.

Police found the dismembered body parts in a large roller bag and found more body parts around the corner on Mission Street.

San Francisco Medical examiner later confirmed that the body parts were those of a human, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Police could not confirm if all the body parts belonged to one person.

Later Wednesday night, police identified and were actively searching for the suspect wanted in connection with the body parts, the paper reports.
