CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. – A Rhode Island man has been cleared in connection with the rape last month of a pregnant woman during a home invasion.
Central Falls police said Thursday that DNA testing results cleared 22-year-old Joiseth Osorio in the June 25 rape.
Police say state Attorney General Peter Kilmartin dropped all charges against Osorio. He was initially identified by the victim in a photo array. The woman recanted her identification of Osorio on June 26.
Defense attorney Rebecca Tougas is on vacation and could not be reached Thursday.
Police say three masked men forced their way into the woman's third-floor apartment and threatened and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint while here two young children were home.
The attack is still being investigated.
