Officials say Dover Air Force Base is on lockdown after a suspicious person was reported on the Delaware post.

Military officials say in a news release that the lockdown was ordered Thursday as a precautionary measure after a suspicious individual was reported around 11 a.m.

All personnel were told to shelter in place.

The base, home to fleets of cargo planes, operates one of the largest and busiest air freight terminals in the U.S. military. It is also home to the nation's largest military mortuary and is the arrival point for the remains of troops who have died overseas.
