OGDEN, Utah – Prosecutors say a Utah man accused of nearly killing his father-in-law in a Father's Day church shooting pulled the trigger because he felt disrespected.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/17yMOom ) Weber County deputy attorney Dean Saunders said Monday that Charles "Ricky" Jennings Jr. told authorities about his alleged motive. No additional details were released.
Saunders told Judge Michael Lyons that Jennings should be kept in jail because he might try to "complete the act" of trying to kill James Evans.
Lyons revoked bail Monday for the 35-year-old Jennings, which was set at $105,000. Jennings is charged with attempted murder.
Police say Jennings shot Evans in the back of the head June 16 during a Catholic Mass in Ogden. The bullet missed Evans' brain, and the 66-year-old is expected to survive.
