Prosecutors: Owner, robber die at NJ jewelry store

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Authorities say an apparent robbery attempt at a central New Jersey jewelry store has ended with the store owner and the robber dead in a murder-suicide.

Somerset County prosecutor's office spokesman Jack Bennett says a man with a gun entered the Roy T. Jewelers store in Bridgewater on Monday afternoon. He tells Newark's The Star-Ledger newspaper the man shot and killed the owner and then himself.

Police cordoned off an area in front of several stores at the Bridgewater Towne Center shopping center. There was a large police presence in the area Monday evening.
