Prosecutors mull charges in woman's slaying on Detroit-area porch after police provide reports

Prosecutors are reviewing whether to charge a suburban Detroit homeowner in the early-morning shooting death of a 19-year-old woman on his porch.

Earlier this week the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said it had begun a warrant review process related to the Nov. 2 death of Renisha McBride, who was shot in the face. The office said Wednesday that Dearborn Heights police have provided "additional investigation" material.

The Associated Press has left several messages with police and the 54-year-old homeowner's attorney seeking comment on the case.

Family members of McBride say she approached the man's home in search of help after a car accident nearby.

The shooting has prompted calls for justice and a thorough investigation from civil rights groups.
