A Sacramento storefront that had not yet put up a sign labeling it had one put there for them -- allegedly by pranksters with a shaky knowledge of rap music.
The sign was made of a white sheet and black duct tape and had the message “F_ck Th_ Pol_c_” spelled out in the style of the game “Hang Man,” with the attribution wrongly given to Public Enemy, the group that wrote “Fight the Power and “9-11 is a Joke,” reported Fox40.com.
Reactions from locals were mixed as passers-by stopped to take photos with the sign. “We found it pretty funny,” said one, while another told reporters, “I am from a military background and law enforcement background. I don’t really appreciate it.”
Officials contacted the store owners, who reportedly were shocked that it was there, and gave officers permission to take the sign down. “Everybody has freedom of speech, but if the owners don’t want it up there, it shouldn’t be up there,” said Officer Sean McGovern.
The correct artist attribution to the song lyrics is NWA.
